My wife and I traveled to Charleston, South Carolina to attend the 2014 OGR Conference. International Order of the Golden Rule Funeral Homes, are independent, family owned funeral homes that span the globe. All firms must adhere to the same strict set of ethics and practices. Each Golden Rule Funeral Home must show a commitment to provide to their client families: “Service measured not by gold but by the Golden Rule.”
While at the awards luncheon on Friday afternoon, we were honored to receive a “Milestone Anniversary Certificate" in recognition of 55 years of dedication and service to this great organization. In 1959 the Harwell family saw the importance of this great organization and the benefits that an organization like this offers; not only the funeral home but the community the funeral home serves. And while the funeral home had already been serving families with that same ideal for 66 years at that point they saw it a perfect fit to join a worldwide organization with beliefs similar to their own.
It was truly and honor to receive this on behalf of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home and more importantly in honor of Mr. J. Charles Harwell and Mr. William C. "Billy" Harwell and their dedication to not only this organization but to our community and the commitment to provide “Service measured not by gold but by the Golden Rule.”
