Doris (Allgood) Smallwood

Mrs. Doris Smallwood, age 88, a lifelong resident of Covington passed away Friday, November 10, 2017.  She was born October 2, 1929 in Jersey, Georgia to the late Walter and Mattie Allgood.  Mrs. Smallwood loved people and was a constant caregiver.  She was a prayer warrior always in prayer for her family and others.  A devoted Christian Mrs. Smallwood was a longtime member of Gaither’s United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed gardening and sewing.  Mrs. Smallwood was preceded in death by her first husband, James Sorrells and her second husband, Theron Smallwood.  She is survived by her children, Celinda G. Lewis and her husband Edward of Covington, Lamar Sorrells and his wife Ellen of Loganville, Keith Sorrells and his wife Katherine of Greensboro and Lisa Broome of Covington along with 9 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mrs. Smallwood will be held at 6:30 p.m., November 14, 2017 at Gaither’s United Methodist Church.  J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home, 2157 East Street, SE, Covington, GA 30014 is in charge of the arrangements.  A guest book may be signed on-line www.harwellfuneralhome.com.
