Dorothy Dobbs Jordan

Mrs. Dorothy Dobbs Jordan, age 93, of Social Circle passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018.  She was born November 12, 1924 in the Hayston Community of Newton County to Lucius and Mattie Ruth Lawson Dobbs who have preceded her in death.  Mrs. Jordan grew up in Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield School.  She was a longtime member of Social Circle United Methodist Church and taught 1st and 2nd grade Sunday school there for many years.  Mrs. Jordan was an active member of the Greta Lee Sunday School Class where she served as the Secretary and Treasurer.  She also was an active member of the Brick Store Community Club serving as the President in the early 1980’s. Known as “Aunt Dorothy” by countless friends Mrs. Jordan work tirelessly in and around her community, she enjoyed farming, and loved animals.  She was preceded in death by her husband Grady Milton Jordan in 1995. 

Mrs. Jordan is survived by her son Charles Jordan and her daughter Harriett Jordan both of Social Circle and her grand dog “Buddy” and three cats.  Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Social Circle United Methodist Church with Reverend Kathy Morris officiating.  Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, October 15, 2018 at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.  J.C.
