Elizabeth (Betty) Josephine Erickson, age 86 went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 20th, 2018, while in her residence at the Benton House, Covington Georgia. Betty was born in Denver Colorado May 20, 1931. The family moved to Grand Junction Colorado while she was in grade school and she remained there until graduating from high school. With a Passion for working with children Betty earned an AA from Mesa College in Grand Junction and then earned a BA from Colorado State College of Education in Greeley Colorado.
Betty married Frank Wellington Erickson on December 28th, 1953, in Grand Junction Colorado. Frank was a social worker and moved the family across the Western US including California, Oregon, Montana, Washington and New Mexico. Betty was very active in church activities and taught school children everywhere that she lived. She was a true mentor and teacher to everyone in Christian Living. She also volunteered, tutoring in after school programs and teaching adult literacy for many years through the age of 84. Betty was preceded in death by her sister Roberta Cherry, her husband Frank Erickson and her beloved son Michael Erickson.
She is survived by a her brother Jim Bair and sister Marti Greenhill, her sons David Erickson, Stephen Erickson and Andrew Erickson and daughters Christine Snyder and Frances Erickson-Helmes grandchildren Matthew Erickson, Christopher Erickson, Joshua Erickson, Ryan Erickson and Cody Erickson Great grandchildren Dominic Erickson, Marcus Erickson and Makayla Erickson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations to be sent to either: Mission Aviation Fellowship, www.maf.org/donate for missionaries, Jeramy and Jodie (her great niece) Towes, or to the Gideons to continue to spread Gods word through the world.
Services will be held on Saturday March 31st, 2018, 2:00 PM, at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 1002 Bethany Road, Covington GA., 30016. J.C.
