Helen (Bates) Nard

Mrs. Helen Nard, age 85, of Oxford passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019.  She was born in Gainesville, Georgia on May 20, 1934 to Collier L. and Edith Dover Bates who have preceded her in death.  Mrs. Nard married and moved to Newton County in 1959.  She enjoyed watching TV, working with her flowers, having her nails done, and going out to eat. Along with her parents Mrs. Nard was preceded in death by her husband Mr. F.A. Nard.  She is survived by her daughters Ann Padgett of Beech Island, S.C., and Lynn Blasingame of Oxford her grandchildren Vickie Holmes (Shawn) and Lee Blasingame.  Her four great grandchildren and her brothers Joel Bates, Jimmy Bates, and Freddie Bates also survive her.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nard will be held at 11 o’clock Friday, June 28, 2019 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Macedonia Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 27, 2019.  J.C.
