Jabo Cowan

Mr. Jabo Cowan, age 69, a lifelong resident of Newton County passed away Friday, May 17, 2019.  He was born January 5, 1950 in Porterdale to Rev. Charles Samuel and Rachel Dial Cowan who have preceded him in death.  Jabo enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching his grandchildren play ball.  He was a NASCAR fan and loved going to Georgia Bulldog games. To know him was to love him. He lived life big and loved even bigger. He was one of a kind.  Jabo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He was preceded in death by his sister Sandra Presley and his brother-in-law John Coltharp. 

Mr. Cowan is survived by his wife of 42 years Kathy Hudson Cowan, his children Billy and Lisa Cowan, Amber and Ryan Betts, and Heath Cowan all of Covington his grandchildren Scout, Stone, Silas, Savannah, Lacey, Brett, Jackson, Jacob, and Chase his sister Brenda Coltharp of Oxford, His brother and sister-in-law Gregg and Evon Cowan of Mansfield, his brother-in-law and wife Johnny and Hilda Presley of Almon along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.

Memorial services for Mr. Cowan will be held at 6 o’clock, Monday, May 20, 2019 at The Church at Covington, 11975 GA Hwy 142, Oxford, GA 30054 with Pastor David Payne officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM prior to the service.  J.C.
