The Piano Brothers

Mr. James O. Anderson, Sr., age 86, a lifelong resident of Starrsville passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017.  He was born in the Starrsville Community of Newton County on December 14, 1930 to J. Henry and Blanche Kennedy Anderson who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Anderson was a lifetime member of Starrsville United Methodist Church.  He was a great conversationalist who enjoyed playing golf and loved his family very much.  Mr. Anderson retired at an early age to spend more time with his family and especially his grandchildren whom he cherished.  He was many things to many people: a little league coach, a farmer, a businessman owning Anderson Oil Company for many years, a cattleman and a friend to everyone.  Along with his parents, Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his twin brother, Joseph Henry Anderson, Jr. and his brother, Benjamin Jordan Anderson.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Jane Greer Anderson, his children and their spouses: James O. Anderson, Jr. of Covington, Henry W. “Ren” Anderson of Covington, Anne Anderson Jacoby (Dr. Brad Jacoby) of Social Circle, Laurie Kay Anderson of Greenville, SC (Dr. Tony P. Johnson) and Jo Ellen Anderson of Covington; his grandchildren: Ben Crider, Alexandra “Zanny” Anderson, Dr. William Johnson, Charles Johnson, Zachary Anderson, Sarah Kay Anderson, Davis Kimball, Glenn Jacoby, Owen Kimball, Joseph Anderson, Jaime Jacoby, Nico Jacoby, Brody Anderson, and Andy Jacoby, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Anderson will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Starrsville United Methodist Church.  Interment will follow at Anderson-Belcher Family Cemetery with his grandchildren serving as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Starrsville United Methodist Church, 2786 Dixie Road, Covington, GA 30014 or to the McKelvey Lung Transplant Center at Emory University, 1364 Clifton Road NE, Suite F-250, Atlanta, GA 30322.  J.C.
