John "Johnny" S. Schell

Mr. John S. “Johnny” Schell, age 73, a lifelong resident of Newton County passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019.  He was born July 21, 1946 in Jersey, Georgia to John Samuel, Sr. and Ardelia Masincup Schell who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Schell was a 1964 graduate of Newton County High School.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1968.  Mr. Schell is retired from the United States Postal Service where he served as the Assistant Postmaster.  He enjoyed life and spending time with his family and grandchildren.  Mr. Schell enjoyed cooking, and gardening; and was an avid Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons fan. 

Mr. Schell is survived by his wife of 51 years Mrs. Linda Standard Schell, his children Barry Schell and Melanie of Covington, and Angela Schell and Evan Narkiewich of Nashville, Tennessee; his siblings Beverly Loyd and Larry of Spring Hill, Florida, Joe Schell and Sandra of Covington, and Mary Ann Patterson and Kevin McGee of Spring Hill, Florida, his brother in-laws Bobby Standard of Johns Creek, and Scott Standard and Rebecca of Covington his grandchildren Ansley, Ashleigh, John Barry, Wil, and Elle along with 7 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and close friends.  

Funeral services for Mr. Schell will be held at 3 o’clock Monday, September 30, 2019 at Salem United Methodist Church with Reverend Carol Standard, Dr. Phil DeMore, and Reverend Dan Dixon officiating.  Interment will follow at Salem Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Salem United Methodist Church in the Family Life Center and again from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Monday prior to the service in the sanctuary.  J.C.
