Mrs. Judy Lowry Simons, age 72, of Duluth formerly of Sylacauga, Alabama passed away Monday, December 16, 2019. She was born in Oneonta, Alabama on May 30, 1947 to Porter and Irene Lowry who have preceded her in death. Mrs. Simons worked in the insurance industry for many years. She also was a travel agent for a number of years following her retirement. Mrs. Simons was a University of Alabama fan and enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Simons, her sister Jeanne Lowry Hornsby, her step brother David Bailey, and her step children Gaye Simons, and Scott Simons.
Mrs. Simons is survived by her niece April Hornsby of Macon, her nephew Jesse Hornsby of Macon, her step daughter Kim Simons Cook (Luke) of Covington, her step sister Sharon Barnett (Johnny) of Houston, Texas, brother-in-law Paul Hornsby of Macon along with numerous cousins, close friends and her beloved yorkie, Bear.
Funeral services for Mrs. Simons will be held at 11 o’clock, Friday, November 20, 2019 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Danny Sorrells officiating. Interment to follow at Social Circle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Quinn House, 555 Hurricane Shoals Road NW, Lawrenceville, GA 30045. The family has selected J.C.
