Margaret (Holifield) Autry

Mrs. Margaret Holifield Autry, age 79, of Covington passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018.  She was born April 4, 1939 in Covington to Homer Grier and Eleanor Avery Holifield, Sr. who have preceded her in death.  Mrs. Autry was a longtime member of Salem United Methodist Church.  She was the Deputy Tax Commissioner for Newton County, a career that spanned 27 years.  Mrs. Autry was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.  She enjoyed working in her garden, working with flowers, loved people, enjoyed taking walks, and traveling. Her family was dear to her she enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren and was always present at their little league games.  Mrs. Autry was preceded in death by her husband Jefferson Clark Autry, Sr.  She is survived by her sons Jeff Autry (Lori) of Covington, Greg Autry (Teresa Barnes) of Covington, and Matt Autry (Candy) of Steele, Alabama; her grandchildren Scott, Marcus, Madison, Justin, and Cade; her great grandchildren Titus, Shepperd, Sadie, and Gabriella; her brother Grier Holifield, Jr., sister Nancy Autry along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Autry will be held at 11 o’clock on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Salem United Methodist Church with Reverend Dan Dixon and Pastor Scott Autry.  Interment will follow the service at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 14, 2018.  J.C.
