Mrs. Patsy Peters, age 71, of Covington passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018. She was born July 7, 1946 in Porterdale to Fred Barnes and Grace Hanson Barnes Stowe who have preceded her in death. Mrs. Peters worked at Bibb Manufacturing as a weaver and then for Newton County Schools; working at Livingston Elementary, Newton High School, Alcovy High School and Newton College and Career Academy. She loved to gamble, travel and being with her family, she never missed her children, grandchildren, or great grandchildren’s baseball or softball games. Mrs. Peters attended Stewart Community Church and was a long time member of Countyline Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who was a mother to many more people than just her own.
Mrs. Peters is survived by her husband of 53 years, Carlton Peters, her children Ray and Lisa Peters of Covington, Ricky Peters of Covington, Randy and Melissa Peters of Mansfield and Ramae and Dwayne Bethune of Covington. Her 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law; Jerry and Mary Barnes of Social Circle and Gary and Doris Stowe of Covington along with nieces, nephews, other family and close friends also survive her.
A gathering of friends will be held at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Newton County Relay for Life, at 105 Westpark Drive C, Athens, GA 30606. J.C.
