Mr. Sam Singley, age 84, a longtime resident of Covington passed away Friday, February 1, 2019. He was born in Jackson on August 5, 1934 to Aubey and Eva Mae Evans Singley who have preceded him in death. Mr. Singley grew up in Porterdale and was a graduate of Newton County High School. He moved to Covington Mill in 1959 and retired from Lithonia Lighting after 40 years. Mr. Singley was an avid reader of Western novels. He enjoyed country music, wood working and collected State quarters. Mr. Singley was preceded in death by his first wife Laura Jean Williams Singley.
Mr. Singley is survived by his wife of 34 years Louise Singley, his son and daughter-in-law Tim and Lisa Singley of Covington, his step children Marie Fry of Covington, Ronald Fry of Covington, and Steven and Vicky Fry of Bethlehem his sister and brother-in-law Evalyn and Doug Hewitt of Conyers, his 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren along with a host of other family and close friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Singley will be held at 2 o’clock Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Covington Mill United Methodist Church with Reverend Norman Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Covington Mill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Saturday, February 2, 2019. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Covington Mill Church, 6154 Collins Street, NE, Covington, GA 30014. J.C.
