Shirley (Davis) Torres

Mrs. Shirley Torres, age 83, of Newborn, GA passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019.  She was born August 21, 1935 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Oscar Mikel and Voisie Arlene Lee Davis who have preceded her in death.  Mrs. Torres enjoyed playing cards, games especially “Wahoo”, and being with family.  She was a hard worker and loved to work.  She was a member of Shoal Creek Primitive Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband Ignacio “Nacho” Torres.

Mrs. Torres is survived by her daughters Peggy Strevel, Saundra Condran, and Suzette Lyons, her sisters Patty Machiavello and Harlene Bass, her grandchildren Matthew Strevel (Carrie), Melanie Strevel Hodges (Danny), Andrew Strevel (Wendy), Jeremy Cummings, and Jeffrey Cummings, her great grandchildren Kara Strevel, Allison Strevel, Dianna Strevel, Bailey Strevel, Josiah Hodges, Bethany Hodges, Kendall Strevel, Ethan Strevel, Madilynn Cummings, Caleb Strevel, and Allison Cummings along with a host of other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Torres will be held at 11 o’clock Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Shoal Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Jimmy Fulmer officiating.  Interment will follow at the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM unitl 11:00 Am on Thursday prior to the service.  J.C.
