Mr. William Frank “Bill” Stokes, age 64, of Mansfield passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018. He was born January 24, 1954 in Decatur, Georgia to Frank and Libby Stokes who have preceded him in death. Bill moved to Newton County with his family in 1971 and was a 1974 graduate of Newton County High School. He worked as a Facilities Technician for AT&T. Bill was a Master Mason, Past Master and the Director of Works at Mansfield Masonic Lodge #489. To say he loved life is an understatement; his hobbies included golf, painting, music, cooking, fishing, scuba diving, sunrises, sunsets, and nature. Bill loved his family very much and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother Warren Ross Stokes.
Bill is survived by his children Ashley and Gene Nuqui and Adam Stokes all of Mansfield his grandchildren Allison Stokes, Alexis Nuqui, Mitchell Stokes, Mason Stokes, Elizabeth Nuqui and Brittany Nuqui his brother and sister-in-law George and Nancy Stokes his very close nephews and niece Jason Stokes, Marshall Stokes and Jennifer Weesner along with a host of other family and close friends.
A Celebration of Life for Bill will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.
