Amanda Irwin Lyda

Mrs. Amanda Irwin Lyda, age 62 of Griffin, formerly of Covington passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019.  She was born on October 23, 1956 in Atlanta to Milas H. and Sara Cook Irwin who have preceded her in death.  Ms. Lyda graduated from Newton County High School in 1975 and was a longstanding member of the Covington First United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed traveling, local live music, and was an exuberant lover of life.  Along with her parents, Mrs. Lyda was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years Lloyd Lyda and her son Bo Lyda.  She is survived by her longtime friend Stanley Thompson of Griffin, brother Andy Irwin of Covington, her sister Sally McFolling of Apollo Beach, Fla, her niece Morgan Casale, her nephew Liam Irwin, her sister-in-law Kathleen Irwin, brother-in-law Ray McFolling, and a host of close friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Lyda will be held at 11 o’clock Monday, July 8, 2019 at the Covington First United Methodist Church with The Reverend Doctor Douglas Gilreath officiating.  Interment will follow at Covington City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on July 7, 2019.  J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home, 2157 East Street, SE, Covington, GA 30014 is in charge of the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pastor’s Fund of Covington First United Methodist Church.  A guest book may be signed on-line www.harwellfuneralhome.com.
