Anita Jane (Crosby) Porter

Anita Jane Porter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, went home to be with our Lord on June 28, 2025.

Jane was a devoted member of Rockdale Baptist Church for over 20 years. Her love for Jesus was evident in the way she lived—spending countless hours each day studying the Bible. She faithfully served in the church’s children’s ministry, teaching Pre-K Sunday School, Rock U, and Vacation Bible School for many years. She was also a committed member of the Master Class, where she cherished deep friendships and spiritual growth.

Jane attended Tift College and was a proud graduate of the University of Florida.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was the heart of every gathering—always ready for an adventure, a road trip, or a spontaneous celebration with her children and grandchildren. Jane had a gift for making others laugh, and her light-hearted, joyful spirit brought warmth and fun wherever she went. She loved to laugh and believed life was meant to be lived fully, especially in the company of those she loved.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Lee and Violet Crosby, and her precious granddaughter, Michelle Stockdale. She leaves behind her loving husband, Charles Porter; her sister, Ruth Nelson; her brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Mary Crosby; her children, Vanessa and James Castleberry, Marie and Joe Stockdale, Rebecca and Mark Haynes, Robert and Rebekah Little; and 21 adored grandchildren.

The funeral service for Mrs. Porter will be held at 11 o’clock Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Rockdale Baptist Church, 1295 Smyrna Rd. SW, Conyers, GA 30094 with Pastor Dwayne Jones and Pastor Daniel Peavy officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday at Shiloh Church Cemetery, 9595 GA Hwy 142, Newborn, GA 30056.  J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
