Ann Young Obituary

Mrs. Ann Adams Young, age 84, of Covington passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Beth and Scott Lane of Roswell, Georgia; her daughter in law Dusti Moon Young of Oxford, Georgia; grandchildren Avery Lane, Grace Lane, Annie Lane, Joshua Young and Evan Young; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, David Young, and her son, Richie Young.

Mrs. Young was born on January 12, 1938, in Habersham County, Georgia to W.W. and Maude Taylor Adams. She was the youngest of seven siblings, all of whom have preceded her in death.

Mrs. Young was a graduate of the Georgia State College for Women and received her Master of Education and Educational Specialist degrees from the University of Georgia. She was a lifelong educator; she taught Home Economics first in Douglas County, Georgia where she met her beloved husband, Dave, and then in Newton County, Georgia from 1974 until her retirement in 1993. After her retirement, Mrs. Young served as Finance and Operations director of the Concert Association of Newton County, now the Arts Association, ensuring the sustainability and viability of the organization through three executive directors – her husband who became ill during his tenure, Scott Daniell and Buncie Hay Lanners. To this day, the Arts Association continues to serve this community and its children.

Mrs. Young was a long-standing member of the Covington First United Methodist Church where she served as a regular volunteer in many capacities. She loved her church family and especially enjoyed being a part of the Bobby Banks Circle. Mrs. Young was also a member of the Service Guild of Covington. She was an excellent cook and seamstress, and many enjoyed the fruits of these gifts. A smart woman with a keen memory, Mrs. Young enjoyed puzzles and was an avid reader. She was quite competitive and loved playing bridge with dear friends throughout her life. In her later years, Mrs. Young enjoyed spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

The family is especially grateful to the staff at Arbor Terrace at Crabapple, Solutions for Seniors and Capstone Hospice for their compassionate care.
