Mrs. Whitmarsh, age 88, of Stone Mountain passed away February 19, 2021. She was born May 19, 1932 in Havana, Cuba to Pedro and Pura Couceiro, who have preceded her in death. Mrs. Whitmarsh was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an active member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Mrs. Whitmarsh was extremely proud of her Cuban heritage and loved to speak Spanish with others. She had a beloved dog named Kramer and she was convinced that he understood English and Spanish better than anyone. Mrs. Whitmarsh was very outgoing, enjoyed dancing, and entertaining her friends. She retired from the Romance Language Department at Emory University and later joined the staff at State Farm for 10 years. She is also preceded in death by her husband Sergio Whitmarsh, her brother Robert Couceiro, and her daughter-in-law Joan Pfirman.
Mrs. Whitmarsh is survived by her son Frank Pfirman and Cathy Allen, her daughter Tania Mopper and Dicky, her son Vincent Pfirman, her daughter Marie Pilkington and Dale, grandchildren Laquita Buckhalt and Keith, Chris Marable, Blake and Taylor Doubleday, Craig Pilkington, Dawn Hudson and Craig, Jessica Tehan and Matt, Keith Buckhalt Jr, Drew Buckhalt and Courtney, great-grandchildren Cora Hudson, Savanah Mason, Blayne, Paisley, and Paitlyn Marable, many nieces and nephews, along with other family members and close friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Whitmarsh will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 600 Mountain View Drive, Stone Mountain, GA 30083.
