Barbara (Forrester) Ewing

Mrs. Barbara Ewing, age 81, of Covington passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024.  She was born January 17, 1943 in Stone Mountain to Henry and Gertrude Forrester who have preceded her in death.  Mrs. Ewing grew up in Stone Mountain and attended Stone Mountain High School.  She enjoyed playing softball and cards.  Mrs. Ewing was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star Madison Lodge #335.  She drove a school bus for Newton County Schools for 18 years.  Mrs. Ewing was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.  She was a member of New Life Praise Center and enjoyed being with her church family.  Along with her parents Mrs. Ewing was preceded in death by her husband Thomas “Shorty” Ewing, her grandson Donnie Bowers, and her daughter-in-law Susan Ewing.  She is survived by her children David Ewing, Melissa Bowers, Christina Ewing, and Tammy Ewing. Her 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and many close friends also survive her.  

Funeral services for Mrs. Ewing will be held at 4 o’clock Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Justin Adams officiating.  Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday prior to the service.
