Mrs. Beverly Jean Walden, age 93, of Conyers, Georgia, passed away on April 30, 2026. She was born on September 2, 1932, in Clarkston, Georgia, and lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her community, and the many people whose lives she touched with her loving and generous spirit.
She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Evelyn Edwards and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie Walden, and her sister, Julia Ann Weed. Beverly carried the values of hard work, kindness, and service throughout her life, and she shared those gifts freely with everyone around her. Her warmth, grace, and steady presence made her a source of comfort and strength to her family and friends.
Beverly and her husband, Charlie, owned and operated Mann-Walden Funeral Homes in Lithonia and Conyers for many years. Through that work, she served countless families with compassion, dignity, and care during some of their most difficult moments. Her professionalism and gentle manner earned the respect of many in the community, and her dedication to helping others reflected the deep sense of responsibility she felt toward those she served.
In addition to her work in the funeral profession, Beverly was very active in her community and gave her time and energy to various charitable organizations. She believed in helping others and in making her community a better place through service and involvement. She was also a member of St. Simons Episcopal Church, where her faith was an important part of her life and where she found fellowship and strength.
Beverly also owned a dance and modeling school in Conyers, where she encouraged confidence, poise, and self-expression in many young people. Her involvement in this work reflected her appreciation for creativity, discipline, and the importance of helping others grow into their best selves. She took pride in the opportunities she created for others and in the positive influence she had on so many lives.
She is survived by her children, Angela Chatham and her husband Randy, and Charles K. “Chuck” Walden; her grandchildren, Nicole Nelson, Blake Chatham, and Abbey Chatham; and her great-grandchildren, Charlie, Jude, and Evelyn. She also leaves behind numerous other family members and friends who will cherish her memory and the many ways she enriched their lives.
Beverly will be remembered as a loving and generous woman whose life was defined by service, faith, and devotion to others. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the community she served, and the many lives she touched with her kindness and compassion.
A graveside service for Mrs. Walden will be held at 1 o’clock Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Stone Mountain City Cemetery with Reverend Wayne Edwards officiating.
