Billie Powell

Mrs. Billie Powell, age 58, of Covington passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023.  She was born in Thomasville, Georgia on March 23, 1965 and grew up in Covington.  Billie married and moved to Chesapeake, Virginia where she completed her education.  She was a strong Christian and loved teaching the Bible to those of all ages, especially children.  Billie enjoyed spending time with her family and was a mother figure to literally thousands of children she came in contact with through out her life.  A loving wife, mother, sister, and friend she will be missed by all that knew her.  Billie was preceded in death by her father Henry Franklin Cox; her mother Ruby Humphries; and her step father James Ray Humphries.  She is survived by her husband of 40 years Chris Powell; her children Carissa Reed (Stephen) of Cumming, and Christian Powell (Austin) of Covington; her sisters Carla Bruce (Scott) of Hiawassee, Johnnie Ivey (Clay) of Covington, and Tonya Owens (David) also of Covington.  She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other family members, and many close friends.
