Mr. Billy Edwards, age 86, a lifelong resident of the Stewart Community of Newton County passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020. He was born in Newton County on December 5, 1933 to Hollis Smith and Lois Fincher Edwards who have preceded him in death. Mr. Edwards grew up attending Red Oak United Methodist Church and was most recently a member of Stewart Community Church. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Edwards worked for Hanover Wire for many years and also worked for Newton General Hospital. He enjoyed cooking and made the best peanut brittle around. Along with his parents Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his brothers Stanley Edwards and Donald Edwards. He is survived by his sister-in-law Mary Edwards of Covington along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and close friends.
Graveside services will be held at 4 o’clock Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Red Oak United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Jason Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stewart Community Church, P.O. Box 608, Covington, GA 30015. J.C.
