Brenda Cowan Coltharp

Mrs. Brenda Cowan Coltharp, age 79, of Oxford, Georgia passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022.  She was born on October 29, 1942 to Charles and Rachel Cowan who have preceded her in death.  Mrs. Coltharp was beautiful inside and out.  She loved her family with all of her heart especially, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Coltharp was like a grandmother to her nieces and nephews who she adored very much.  She liked being outside feeding and enjoying all of the animals on the farm.  Before her loving husband passed away, they would always tend to the farm together.  Mrs. Coltharp was known for her green beans.  She grew them in her garden and would have a big pot ready for friends and family anytime there was a gathering.  Along with her parents, Mrs. Coltharp is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John D. Coltharp, Sr., siblings, Sandra Presely and Jabo Cowan.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy McMullen; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Tina Coltharp; grandchildren, Chase and his wife Lindsey, Taylor, J.D. and his fiancé Melanie, Aubrey; great-grandchildren, Karson, Westin, Stetson; brother, Gregg Cowan, numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends.  Anytime Mrs. Coltharp would leave she would tell her family, “See you in the funny papers!”

A memorial service for Mrs. Coltharp will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell & Son Funeral Home at 2 o’clock with Dr. Alan Posey officiating.  The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home from 1:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the service.  Interment will follow at Oxford Historical Cemetery.

Governor Brian Kemp has lifted the restrictions for large gatherings and other recommendations throughout Georgia.  However, we ask that you still be respectful of the family and others during this time. If you are sick, not feeling well, or have any symptoms of COVID 19, please do not attend the service or services.  If you feel the need to wear a mask, please do so.
