In Loving Memory of Brenda J. Simpson

January 16, 1944 – August 11, 2025

Brenda J. Simpson, 81, of Hiawassee, Georgia & Hayesville, North Carolina

Brenda J. Simpson, beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025. Born in Riverdale, Georgia, Brenda spent her formative years in Albany, Georgia, where she graduated from Albany High School. Her life was marked by a deep commitment to service, family, and heritage.

Brenda later moved to Burke, Virginia, where she built a distinguished career as a civilian data analyst for the United States Navy in Washington, DC. Her meticulous work and dedication earned the respect of colleagues and the admiration of those who knew her.

Brenda was a woman of deep compassion and gentle wisdom. Her presence brought comfort, her words carried peace, and her heart was always open. She lived a life marked by grace—never seeking attention, but always making others feel seen and loved.

She is survived by her devoted sisters, Rita Lucille Gregory (husband Harold) and Shelia Sapp Olander (husband Bob); several beloved nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and cousins who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Floyd Bedford and Margaret Lucille Sapp, and her brother Cleve, whose memory she held close to her heart.

Among the many joys in Brenda’s life was her beloved dog, Muffit, who brought her endless companionship and comfort. Their bond was a testament to the quiet, unconditional love Brenda gave so freely.

She found happiness in life’s simple treasures—a blooming garden, a well-loved book, the laughter of family, and the loyal presence of Muffit by her side. Her legacy is one of quiet devotion, enduring love, and a spirit that brought peace to every room she entered. Her love for family was the cornerstone of her life, and she will be remembered for her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering devotion.

A private memorial will be held in celebration of Brenda’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the American Cancer Society, honoring her generous heart and compassionate soul.

Brenda J. Simpson will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
