Mr. Bruce Wheeler of Social Circle, Georgia passed away July 5th, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born on September 12th, 1938, in Atlanta, Georgia to Ruby and Albert Wheeler who have preceded him in death, along with his siblings, Roberta, Lanier and Norman.
Bruce grew up in Lithonia and Conyers, and met the love of his life, Janice, in Covington. They were married for 57 wonderful years. Together they raised their family and tended to their farm.
He was a handsome man in his early years who loved to travel, but never far from his beloved red and white guitar.
He mastered several musical instruments and would serenade his family with Johnny Cash or other songs he wrote.
Bruce nobly served in the Army National Guard for 6 1/2 years and worked as a pipe insulator before enjoying his retirement for the past 24 years. Bruce was a proud member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a prankster and loved to tell old stories.
Bruce was a devoted husband and loving father. He had a love for agriculture and enjoyed cultivating the land. Bruce enjoyed raising a diverse array of farm animals. Though his journey may have ended, his legacy lives on through the love he had for his family.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Janice Wheeler; his daughters and sons-in-law, Sheri and Randy Mosley, Julie and Greg Alliston, and Stephanie Allen; grandchildren, Brittany and Casey Hall, Noah Joyner, McKayla Alliston, Garrett Alliston, Levi Alliston, Macie Alliston, Logan Allen, Gabe Allen and Brooklyn Allen; great-granddaughter, Emmalee Hall; as well as other family members and close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4 o’clock Sunday, July 28th, 2024 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM prior to the service. Private family gathering at a later date where his ashes will be spread under the shade of his pecan trees.
