Carole Lyon Obituary

Mrs. Carole Joy Lyon passed away on the 24th of May 2025, at the age of 73. She was born on the 5th of November 1951, to the late Wiley Richard Whitley and Dorothy Louise Whitley. Carole's life was one of deep faith, joyous music, and the love of family and friends.

Carole was a lifelong member of Glen Haven Baptist Church, where she found great solace and community. Her passion for Gospel music was evident to all who knew her; attending concerts and listening to Christian music was not just a hobby but a cornerstone of her life.

In addition to her love for music, Carole had an affinity for the simple pleasures in life. She often spoke of the joy she found in Chick-Fil-A milkshakes, a treat she cherished on sunny afternoons. Carole also enjoyed taking gentle strolls, where she would take in the beauty of the world around her, often reflecting on the blessings of life.

Carole's collection of baby dolls was more than a pastime; it was a testament to her nurturing heart. Each doll was cared for with a tenderness that spoke volumes of her capacity to love and cherish.

Her life was enriched by the presence of her beloved nephew, J.P. Whitley, who brought immense joy and laughter to her world. Carole's love for J.P. was profound.

Carole was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 11 years, Charles Lem Lyon, with whom she shared a life of love and companionship. Her brother John Whitley also preceded her in passing. She is survived by her brother James "Jim" Whitley, his wife Karen and their son Tyler, and sister-in-law Alexandria Whitley who will remember Carole as a beacon of light and love in the family.

For 15 years, Carole's life was made more comfortable and joyful by the dedication of her caregiver, Nancy Reddin and her compassion and love from Daphne McDaniel. Their unwavering support and kindness allowed Carole to live her final years with dignity and grace. The bond they shared went beyond care; they were a part of her extended family, and their presence was a true blessing.

Carole's journey through life was one of faith, love, and simple joys. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, a testament to a life that was rich in the things that truly matter. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were graced by her presence.

As we bid farewell to Carole Joy Lyon, we are reminded of the beauty of a life that radiates kindness and the enduring power of a soul uplifted by faith and love. Carole's life story is one that will be recounted with fondness and cherished by those who were part of her
