Charles Carter

Mr. Charles Carter, age 79, of Covington passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024.  He was born February 27, 1945 in Walton County to Howard and Clarice Carter who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Carter grew up in Walnut Grove and was a longtime member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Conyers.  He worked for Hill-Phoenix for 28 years and retired as a sheet metal foreman. Mr. Carter enjoyed fishing, bowling, UGA football, and was an Atlanta Braves fan.  Along with his parents he was preceded in death by wife Leona Carter, his step-son Ricky Thomas, and his brother David Carter. 

Mr. Carter is survived by his children Paul Carter (Naomi) of Monticello, Randy Carter of Covington, Mandy Allen (Tony) of Covington; his step children Randy Thomas (Sharon) of Conyers, Phil Thomas of Stockbridge, and Gloria Wade of Athens. He is also survived by his 21 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; his sister Pam Buckland (Jack) of Macon; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members, and many close friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Carter will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Mack Goss officiating.  Interment will follow at East View Cemetery in Conyers.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Thursday prior to the service.
