Mrs. Cindy Franklin, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on September 14, 1957, in Valley Forge Army Hospital located in Pennsylvania, Cindy's journey began as a daughter of the late Robert Malcolm Herndon and the living Madeline Herndon of Oxford, Georgia. She was the cherished sister to Belinda Herndon, Sheila Herndon, and Robin (Brent) West. Cindy's legacy continues through her devoted husband of 48 years, Mike Franklin, her loving children Joe (Cristina) Franklin and Josh (Ashley) Franklin of Covington, Georgia and her adored grandchildren Bailey, McLane, Logan, and Stella.
Cindy spent her formative years in Campbell's Creek, West Virginia, where she cultivated a strong Christian faith that would guide her life's work and relationships. On February 27, 1977, she married her soulmate, Mike, and together they embarked on a life filled with love, service, and family. In 1989, Cindy and Mike founded Solid Rock Church, where she served as a Pastor's wife with unwavering dedication and grace. Her deep spiritual commitment was evident in every aspect of her life, and she was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew her.
Professionally, Cindy dedicated 13 years to C.R. Bard, where she worked in Human Resources. She was respected by her colleagues for her compassion, integrity, and unwavering support for everyone she worked with. Cindy's professional life was marked by the same commitment to community and kindness that she demonstrated in her personal life.
Cindy's passions extended beyond her work and church activities. She was a loving mother who treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every opportunity to create lasting memories with them. Cindy's love for travel and adventure took her to many places, and she had a special fondness for shopping at flea markets, always on the lookout for hidden treasures. She also cherished her dog, Mercy, who never left her side.
Cindy's unwavering faith, her commitment to her family, and her generous heart left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. She is predeceased by her father, Robert Malcolm Herndon, and her beloved daughters, Cindy and Jordan Franklin. Her love and teachings will live on through her surviving family members, including her nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and close friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
