Clarence Gibbs Obituary

Clarence Gibbs, a cherished and devoted family man, passed away on September 5, 2025, in Covington. Born on June 30, 1935, in Alpharetta, he was the heart of his family and a friend to all who knew him. Clarence brought joy and love into the lives of many, approaching each day with kindness and a thoughtful spirit.

He was the beloved patriarch, survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Jeanneane Gibbs. Together, they nurtured a family that included his children, Mark Raines and wife Kathy, Scott Gibbs and wife Susan, and Max Gibbs and wife Sherri. Clarence delighted in the laughter and milestones of his 13 grandchildren, and he lived to see numerous great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. His brother, Morris Gibbs, with wife Helen, and a host of nieces and nephews will remember him as a supportive and loving presence. Mr. Gibbs was preceded in death by his parents, Jody and Laura Drummond Gibbs, and his step son Michael Raines.

Professionally, Clarence earned respect on his route as a salesman for Colonial Bakery. His dedication to his work was paralleled by his commitment to the community as a founding member of Summit Baptist Church. His faith was integral to his life, providing comfort and guidance in all his endeavors.

Away from work, Clarence was known for hitting the lanes with his bowling team, where his friendly competition and sportsmanship were always on display. He was also a talented cook, often seen preparing sumptuous meals for gatherings of family and friends. Gardening was another passion, as he grew a wonderful vegetable garden that not only fed his family but also served as a tranquil haven for him.

One of his greatest pleasures was cheering on the Atlanta Braves. Whether a game day or a quiet afternoon, his loyalty to his favorite team was unwavering. Clarence lived his love for sports, family, and faith with a grace that was admired by all.

Clarence Gibbs will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing him. His absence will be felt deeply, but the memories he created and the love he shared will continue to inspire and comfort his family and friends for generations to come.

A memorial service will be held at 11 o’clock Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Summit Baptist Church, 3080 Hwy 81, Loganville, GA 30052 with Pastor Jesse Welliver officiating and special speakers Pastor Carl Butch Butcher and his wife Terri.
