Clarence "Buddy" Lee Allen

Mr. Clarence Lee “Buddy” Allen, age 80, a lifelong resident of Newton County passed away Thursday, October 31, 2019.  He was born on February 20, 1939 in Porterdale to Otis and Rella Mae Grier Allen who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Allen served in the United States Navy.  He was a Master Mason and member of Mansfield Masonic Lodge #489.

Mr. Allen retired as the Assistant Director of the Georgia Building Authority Police and Security Division following a career in law enforcement that spanned 40 years.  His career began in 1958 with the Covington Police Department.  He moved on to serve as a Deputy Sheriff and Investigator with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, and then on to the Building Authority.

Mr. Allen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years Mrs. Judy P. Allen, his children; Shane Allen (Jennifer), Emily Allen Mills (James), Doug Allen, David Allen (Denise), and Joy Brady all from Covington, his grandchildren Andrew, Jackson, Walker, Allen, Braxton, Heath, Lacy, Elizabeth, Anthony, and Austin, his great grandchildren Noah, Conner, and Kaitlyn.  He is also survived by a host of other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Allen will be held at 11 o’clock Monday, November 4, 2019 at the High Point Baptist Church, 12025 Hwy 36, Covington, GA 30014 with Dr. David C. Moody officiating.  Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at the funeral home.  J.C.
