Claude Winford Bailey

Mr. Claude Winford Bailey, age 96, of Blairsville, Georgia formerly of Covington, Georgia passed away Friday, September 1, 2023. He was born on January 10, 1927 to James Fletcher and Ishbelle Bailey who have preceded him in death. Mr. Bailey and his late wife were the former owners of Bailey’s Roller Rink, Bailey’s Grocery Store, Bailey’s Mobile Home Park in Covington, and Goose Creek Cabins and Campground in Blairsville, GA. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed piddling. Mr. Bailey could do about anything with his hands and was an outstanding business man.  He will be missed by his family and friends. Along with his parents, Mr. Bailey is preceded in death by his wife of almost 70 years Elizabeth Evelyn Bailey; daughter-in-law, Retter Price Bailey; siblings, Buddy Bailey, Ruth Kinney, Clara Belle Wood, Tom Bailey, Lewis Bailey, and Hazel Dawn Bailey.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his son, Keith Bailey of Blairsville, GA; God-son Gary Bradford of Covington, GA; grandchildren, Garrick and Vicki Bailey, Joel and Greta Miller; great grandchildren, Tyler and Ashely Miller, Bradley Miller, Bailey and Erin Miller, Ryleigh Miller, Ashton and Alex Linton, Alana Bailey; great-great grandchildren, Cayden Keith Miller, Tyler Braxton Miller, Aubree Laine Miller, Eden Jaymes Miller, Nola Kate Miller, numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Bailey will be held at 2 o’clock Monday, September 4, 2023 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Stacy Dyer.  Interment will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 1 o’clock at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service on Monday. Pallbearers will be Mr. Bailey’s grandsons and Stacy Willard.  J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
