Clinton “Clint” Edward Childers, age 78, of Madison GA, formerly of Lithonia, GA passed away Monday, April 14, 2025. He was a loving husband, daddy and Poppi/ie/y. Clint loved all things bluegrass “Keep it Pure”, hunting, fishing, eating ice cream (straight from the carton), watching football and supporting his grandchildren at their various hobbies and events. He had an ear for music and played mandolin, guitar, and piano. He had a combined 23 years of service in the United States Military, retiring with the rank of Master Sargent from the United States Air Force. Clint served in the United States Air Force, Air Force Reserves, Air National Guard and Army Reserves.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Eva Lou Childers; sister, Clara Mae Bryan; brothers, Clayton and Carlton Childers; and infant daughter Christina Childers. Clint is survived by his wife of 55 years, Florence “Flo” Childers; daughters, Marcie (Jonathan) Forrester, Megan (Joel) Kirk; grandchildren, Peyton Forrester, Landon Kirk, Luke Kirk, Leah Kirk, and Addie Kirk; brother-in-law, Denton Bryan; several nieces and nephews; his band mates Clyde Jones, Bobby Cleland, and David Adams, and his life-long best friend, Buck Howard.
A funeral service for Mr. Childers will be held at 3 o’clock Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Mr. Bobby Wood officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 3:00PM at the funeral home prior to the service. J.C. Harwell & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
