Cynthia Temples Turbyfield, age 74, of Covington, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026. Born on June 2, 1951, in Porterdale, Cynthia was the beloved daughter of Alex and Mary Jo Temples, who preceded her in death. She spent her formative years in Covington, where she graduated from Newton County High School and built a life centered around family, love, and community.
Cynthia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her marriage to James Turbyfield was a testament to enduring partnership and affection, and she mourned his passing deeply. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Jeff Temples, Dwayne Temples, and Steve Temples.
As a mother, Cynthia was nurturing and steadfast, raising her children—Shawn Turbyfield, Shannon Read, and Shea Garrett—with warmth and wisdom. Her grandchildren, Marideth Read and William Read, brought her endless joy and pride, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Known for her love of reading and keen enjoyment of puzzles, Cynthia found happiness in simple pleasures and treasured time with her family above all. Her gentle spirit and thoughtful nature touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a loyal sister to Patricia Ciana and Kieth Temples, and her circle of love extended to other family members and many close friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
