Daniel "Danny" Thomas Hawkins

Mr. Daniel “Danny” Thomas Hawkins, age 79, of Covington passed away Monday, May 8, 2023. Danny was born in Cleveland, Tennessee on October 25, 1943. He grew up in Covington, Georgia. Danny was a mechanic by trade and retired from the Gwinnett County School System. He truly loved what he did and used those skills to work on tractors, cars, lawn mowers and everything in between. Danny enjoyed life and treasured each day. As a beloved husband, father, and grandfather his time with his family was what he valued the most. Whether it was his daily walks with his daughter, NASCAR races with his grandson, or a good meal anytime, he treasured time with his family. He was the longest running member of his church Prospect Church at Oak Hill, where he took part in the Mens Fellowship programs and spent the majority of the first half of his life on the softball field with his beloved Prospect team. Danny had a regular breakfast and lunch crew that he would meet with often. He was a friend to all and loved caring for people. He is preceded in death by his parents Elijah and Lillian Hawkins and his daughter Angela Boyett.

Danny is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Renee Hawkins, his daughter and son in law Dana and Michael Farrell, his grandson Daniel Holden Farrell, as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Service for Danny will be held Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 2 PM at Prospect Church at Oak Hill 6752 GA-212, Covington, GA 30016. The visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 1 PM to 2 PM at the church with interment to follow the funeral service. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Providence Classical Christian School or to Prospect Church at Oak Hill. J.C.
