Mr. Darryl Gene Griffing, Sr., age 70, of Newborn passed away Friday, July 12, 2024.  He was born July 14, 1953 in East St. Louis, IL to William (Bill) and Elizabeth (Betty) Griffing who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Griffing owned and operated A-True Service Company.  He enjoyed biking, running, and wood-working.  Along with his parents Mr. Griffing was preceded in death by his twin brother David Griffing.  He is survived by his wife Sheila Griffing; his children Lani Hastings (Steve) of St. Augustine, FL, Darryl Griffing, Jr. (Niki) of Covington, and Melissa Henderson (Scott) of Strawberry Plains, TN; his grandchildren Hampton, Madison, Reagan, Anastasia, Lucian, Shera, Isabella, Hailey, and Ava; his great grandchildren Maverick, Emory, and Brynleigh; his sister Patricia “Trish” Gerlitz; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends. There will be an informal Celebration of Life event for Darryl Griffing, Sr. on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 4 to 7 pm at 200 Bates Road, Covington, GA in the rustic cabin on the property (not the main residence). Darryl's family hopes you can drop by to remember him, share some memories, and enjoy some local barbeque.
