Don Niko Obituary

Don Sosaiete Niko met his Savior on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the age of 32. He was born on September 23, 1992 in Sacremento, California. Don was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife Laura Niko, who was his world; his precious daughter Paisley, whom he loved with his whole heart; his mother Ese Niko; his siblings David, Douglas, and Diane Niko; his in-laws Stephen and Sarah Baptista; and other extended family members including brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his father, Sosaiete Niko.

Don put his faith in Christ at the age of 10, and it affected every aspect of his life. His faith informed his choice to study at West Coast Baptist College and later Pensacola Christian College, where he met his lovely wife. Don attended Harvest Baptist Temple in Medford, Oregon, and Canaan Baptist Church in Covington, Georgia where he faithfully loved, served, and sang. Because of his love for Jesus and commitment to follow Him, Don lived his life serving others. Whether helping a stranger in need or grilling smash burgers for family gatherings, Don was always serving others.

Some of Don’s favorite times were spent fishing and camping with family. He was never too busy to bring along a niece or nephew to find a new fishing spot, or take them out on the canoe. Don was the best competitor. During a close match-up in fantasy football, a friendly cornhole competition, a backyard game of volleyball, or pick-up basketball, he always had a fun energy, a joke or two, and a contagious smile on his face. Don had a deep love of music. He was always listening to it, singing it, and sharing it with others. Most of all, Don loved to spend time with his wife and daughter. He found great joy in loving, protecting, and spoiling them.

Don Niko has left us all an example of how to live a life that is not defined by worry, fear, or the past, but rather a life marked by following Jesus, enjoying God’s goodness, and loving and serving those around us.

Funeral services for Don will be held at 2 o'clock on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Canaan Baptist Church, 5581 Salem Road, Covington, GA 30016.
