Dorothy Lee Hunt Callahan, 97, of Covington, GA passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2026. She was born May 4, 1928, to the late Am Leroy and Doris Hunt who have preceded her in death. Also preceding her was her husband of 69 years, James Callahan. She is survived by her daughters Roxanne Lambert of Carrollton, Georgia, Paulette Crabb (Kevin) of Blairsville, Georgia and Melinda Gibson (John) of Shady Dale, Georgia; her grandchildren Seth Lambert, Chad Lambert (Amy), Anne Harrison Born (Tim), John Carl Gibson (Randi), Jesse Gibson, Jenny Norman (Kyle), Curt Lambert (Christina), Caitlyn Lambert, Patrick Lambert, Shelly Baza and 15 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Callahan started her career as a nursing assistant before working retail for over 60 years. She was employed by Harper’s Stores later becoming a manager. Then she and her husband owned and operated “The Little Store” in downtown Covington. She enjoyed creating and designing floral arrangements at both places. She was of the Christian faith and it brought her great joy to spend time with her family. She will be missed by her family and friends, including two very special ladies, Lizzy Greene and Shirley Stevens.
Funeral services for Mrs. Callahan will be held at 2 o’clock Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service.
