Dorothy G. Moon

Mrs. Dorothy Moon, age 97, of Conyers passed away Thursday, July 16, 2021. She was born on May 12, 1924 to Forrest Lee Giles and Mary Corbett Giles, who have preceded her in death.  Mrs. Moon was a member of Belmont Baptist Church of Conyers.  She retired from Xerox Corporation and worked there most of her life.  Mrs. Moon was an avid gardener who loved roses and had the “yard of the year.” She enjoyed reading and was known for her pound cake, fruitcake cookies, and her divinity candy.  She had a loving soul and will be missed.  Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Willie Moon; her son Forrest Armstrong Thacker; siblings, F.L. Giles Jr. and John Rabun Giles.  

Mrs. Moon is survived by her children, Richard and Laure Thacker, Ronald and Debra Ray; six grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

A graveside service will be at Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery located at 857 Smyrna Church Road, Sandersville, Ga on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 11 o’clock with Pastor Neil Jackson officiating.  J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home, TE Davis Funeral Services, 2157 East Street, SE, Covington, GA 30014.

As of April 8, 2021, Governor Brian Kemp has lifted the restrictions for large gatherings and other recommendations throughout Georgia.  However, we ask that you still be respectful of the family and others during this time. If you are sick, not feeling well, or have any symptoms of COVID 19, please do not attend the service or services.  If you feel the need to wear a mask, please do so.
