Doug Dickson Obituary

Mr. Doug Dickson, age 73, of Covington passed away Friday, January 29, 2021.  He was born October 27, 1947 in Porterdale and grew up in Porterdale and Covington.  Mr. Dickson was a 1965 graduate of Newton County High School and served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969.  He worked in the construction field owning Dickson Construction Company for a number of years and he was a superintendent for Thompson Builders; Keith Thompson said that “He was a true John Wayne Man’s Man”.  Mr. Dickson was a Georgia Bulldog fan, he was a coach for Newton County Recreation Department, coaching football, baseball, and basketball.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren. 

Mr. Dickson was preceded in death by his parents Clayton Eugene and Georgia Butler Dickson, and his son David Eugene Dickson.  He is survived by his wife Diane Dickson, his sons Dennis Eugene Dickson (Heather) of Covington, Dale Eugene Dickson (Jen) of Newnan, and Dustin Eugene Dickson (Julie) of Covington his grandchildren Brea, Alyssa, Kate, Presley, and Bryce his sisters Brenda Snellgrove (Alvin) and Patsy Mitchell (Jim) along with several nieces, nephews, other family, and close friends.  Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic the family has decided to have a memorial service at a later date.  J.C.
