Mr. Ed Hooten, age 95, a longtime resident of Covington passed away Friday, September 15, 2023. He was born August 2, 1928 in McDonough to L.D. and Pearl Hooten. Mr. Hooten served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He worked for Walker Harris Chrysler Plymouth Dodge for 40 years. Mr. Hooten enjoyed riding motorcycles, being outdoors, and spending time at Jackson Lake. He was Methodist by faith and a longtime member of North Covington United Methodist Church; he was currently a member of Alcovy United Methodist Church. Mr. Hooten was the oldest of 7 children and was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, and his wife Dorothy McIntosh Hooten. Mr. Hooten is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and close friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Hooten will be held at 3 o’clock Monday, September 18, 2023 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Dan Dixon officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Monday prior to the service.
