Elizabeth Inez (Byars) Brooks

Mrs. Elizabeth Inez Brooks, age 80, of Jackson passed away June 22, 2018.  She was born June 22, 1938 in Eatonton, Georgia to Samuel and Gladys Byars who have preceded her in death.  Mrs. Brooks grew up in Eatonton and was a 1957 graduate of Putnam County High School.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.  Mrs. Brooks was a longtime member of Glen Haven Baptist Church moving from the church in Dekalb County to its location in McDonough.  She enjoyed gospel music, camping, and when her children were growing up she was always at the ball field.  Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Cheyenne Brooks and her brother Fred Byars.  She is survived by her husband Ray Brooks of Jackson, her children Ricky Brooks (Lisa) of Monroe, Tony Brooks (Kim) of Loganville, Kathy Walker (Chris) of Monroe, Sam Brooks (Renee) of Crawfordville, Stephen Brooks (Lisa) of Statesboro and Shelia Callahan of Cumming.  She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild along with a host of other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Brooks will be held at 2 o’clock, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Glen Haven Baptist Church with Reverend Ralph Easterwood officiating.  The family will receive friends at the Church from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in honor of Mrs. Elizabeth Inez Brooks to the Build Fund of Glen Haven Baptist Church, 345 East lake Road, McDonough, GA 30252.  J.C.
