It is with a sense of profound respect and deep affection that we announce the passing of Mrs. Elsie Arnold, a cherished soul whose life journey began on July 19, 1938, in Oxford, Georgia, and came to a peaceful close on December 10, 2024, in Loganville, GA. Elsie's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the love she cultivated around her.
Born to the late Ruby Wren and Bonnie Thompson, Elsie's roots were firmly planted in the nurturing soil of her hometown. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of dedication, compassion, and joy. She embodied a rare blend of strength and gentleness that touched all who knew her. Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Jordan Thompson and Lynn Thompson.
Elsie was a beacon of light in the community, leaving an indelible mark through her professional endeavors. She dedicated many years to the Quality Control Department at Delta Airlines, where her keen eye for detail and commitment to excellence were evident. Her career path then led her to Georgia Baptist Hospital, where she served for over two decades, eventually rising to the esteemed position of administrative assistant in the Department of Pathology. Her colleagues revered her as a pillar of support and a mentor whose legacy of service will long be remembered.
Family was the cornerstone of Elsie's life. She is survived by her loving daughter Cindy Rice (Neal), her sister-in-law Penny Thompson, her nieces Kimberly McGill (Jim) of Johns Creek and Kristen Goldberg (William) of Powell, Wyoming, and her nephew Kevin Thompson (Casey) of Oxford, Georgia. Each of these individuals, along with other family members and close friends, were the recipients of Elsie's boundless love and the special moments that they now carry as precious memories.
Elsie's faith was a guiding force throughout her life, exemplified by her lifelong commitment as a charter member of Woodlake Baptist Church. Her spiritual dedication was matched only by her passion for the world's natural beauty. She found solace and joy in her garden, where her hands would lovingly tend to flowers, and her heart would swell with pride at the sight of every new bloom.
Traveling the world, Elsie embraced the adventure of new places and experiences. Yet, she was equally content in the tranquility of her own backyard, where she could often be found working in the yard, her hands shaping the earth, her spirit free among the whispering trees and singing birds.
Elsie's creative talents were remarkable, and her ability to sew was nothing short of extraordinary. She crafted her first wedding dress with the same precision and care that she applied to every aspect of her life. Her creations were not just garments but expressions of her love and creativity, which she generously shared with those around her.
Mrs. Elsie Arnold's life was a journey marked by the love she gave and the lives she touched. Though her earthly presence will be missed, her spirit remains a comforting presence in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Elsie's story does not end with her passing but continues in the cherished memories and enduring love she leaves behind.
A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made in Elsie’s name to Woodlake Baptist Church or to Bristol Hospice.
