Floyd Akridge, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away at the age of 61 on May 3, 2025. Born in Bainbridge, Maryland on December 21, 1963, Russell and Anita Akridge who have preceded him in death.
Floyd graduated from Northside Christian Academy and furthered his education at the University of West Georgia. He was a skilled computer programmer and analyst. Floyd was passionate about his work, yet he also found time to engage deeply in various interests and community associations.
Known for his zest for life and an ever-present sense of humor, Floyd was a self-proclaimed meteorologist and avid storm watcher, often lighting up gatherings with his vast knowledge and entertaining stories. Floyd's loved ones will remember him as the one who could always make them laugh and lift their spirits. The love for his family came second only to his love for the Lord. As a child of God, he embraced every aspect of what God called him to be. He lived by Proverbs 3:27 “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due when it is in your power to act”.
A beloved family man, Floyd is survived by his wife, Teresa; his children, Chris Watkins (Heather), Jenny Watkins, Dana Butruccio (Anthony), Rebecca Akridge (Jeff Johnson), and William Akridge (Michele Flores); his grandchildren, Emily, Arabella, Dawson, Audrey, Naomi, and Aurelia; his sister, Sheryl Stokes (Steve); and numerous other family members and close friends who found joy and comfort in his unfailing kindness and generosity.
Above all, Floyd will be remembered as a loving, kind, and funny individual who brought laughter and light wherever he went. He embodied the spirit of a giver and servant, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. Floyd left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will continue to inspire and guide us.
Funeral services for Mr. Akridge will be held at 2 o’clock Friday, May 9, 2025 at Central Church, 11157 City Pond Road, Covington, GA 30014 with Pastor Darrell Allen officiating.
