Floyd Spurling

Mr. Floyd Spurling, age 67, of Oxford passed away Monday, September 21, 2020.  He was born December 21, 1952 in Shepherdsville, Kentucky to Tony and Laverne Dillander Spurling who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Spurling grew up in Augusta and attended Evans High School.  Following high school, he served in the United States Army.  Floyd worked as a truck driver, and enjoyed coon hunting, deer hunting, and spending time with his family.  He was one of 16 children and he was preceded in death by 14 of them.  Mr. Spurling is survived by his wife Stacy Spurling, his children; Anthony Spurling and Misty of Forsyth, Maree Spurling of Covington, Brandy Whitby and Travis of Newborn, Gabrielle Bradley and James of Covington, Billy Bowen of Oxford, and Danielle Ellis of Covington.  He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and his sister Helen Wildes of Kentucky along with a host of other family and many close friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Spurling will be held at 7 o’clock Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Chris Allen officiating.  Interment will follow at Georgia Veteran’s Cemetery in Milledgeville on Friday.  The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:00pm until 7:00pm prior to the service.  J.C. Due to the COVID 19/Coronavirus Pandemic all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requirements will be followed.  There is a limit of 50 people at any large gathering, social distancing must be recognized, the use of mask is encouraged, and most importantly if you feel sick or have any symptoms of COVID 19 you will not be allowed to attend the service.  Please be respectful of the family during this difficult time and follow the requirements of the CDC.
