Floyd "Buzz" Thompson

Mr. Floyd “Buzz” Thompson, age 94, of Oxford formerly of Stone Mountain passed away Monday, July 22, 2019.  He was born in Monroe, GA on July 8, 1925 to Bert Ruben and Dora Mae Thompson who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Thompson was a brick mason by trade and enjoyed Gospel singing and rabbit hunting.  He was a Baptist by faith and member of East Lithonia Baptist Church.  Along with his parents Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his wife Cecile Ione Thompson and his son Donald Odean Thompson.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his children Danny Boy Thompson of Lawrenceville, Gary Thompson (Kathy) of Oxford, Judy Parker of Stone Mountain, Linda Estes (Michael) of Griffin, and David Thompson (Amy) of Newborn.  21 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren along with his siblings Betty Cantrell of Oxford, Horace Thompson of Redan, Helen Fulcher of Covington, and Marie Andrews of Pell City, Alabama and a host of other family and close friends also survive him.

Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Hydes Chapel Baptist Church, 1630 W. Hightower Trail, Conyers, GA 30012 with Reverend Horace Thompson and Reverend Frank Nichols officiating.  Interment will follow at Corinth Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 24, 2019.  J.C.
