Franklin Terrell Cumbie, 76, of Covington, Georgia, was called home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 31, 2025. Born on October 4, 1948, in Louisiana, Terry led a life marked by an unwavering faith in Christ, a tireless work ethic, and a deep, abiding love for his family.
After retiring from the Teamsters, Terry continued his devotion to service by working with Newton County for several years. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in his love for golf and fishing. Some of his most cherished memories were made with family at New Smyrna Beach, always with a smile on his face and an ice cream cone in hand.
Terry was a man of deep faith and regularly read God’s word, loving to share the truths of Scripture with everyone around him. A member of Royal Diadem Tabernacle, his faith was his guiding light. He lived out the fruit of the Spirit in every aspect of his life, embodying love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Terry’s life reflected the words of the Apostle Paul: “For to me, to live is Christ; and to die is gain.”
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Patricia Cumbie; his sons, Brent Cumbie, Craig Cumbie, and Alan Cumbie; his stepchildren, Tim Spain, Pam Whiten, and Melissa Browder; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to his life.
Terry’s warmth, laughter, and genuine kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to call him family and friend.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 8th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 9th at 2:00 p.m. at JC Harwell Funeral Home in Covington, Georgia. Interment will follow at New Covington Cemetery.
