Gene "John" Edward Sexton

Mr. Gene Edward “John” Sexton, age 89, of Covington passed away Monday, October 8, 2018.  He was born on January 13, 1929 in Alabama to Joseph and Rebecca DeHart Sexton who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Sexton attended The Apostolic Community Church of Covington.  He enjoyed walks to the mailing box and hot peppers, the hotter the better. Mr. Sexton was preceded in death by his wife Ettmer Sexton, his son Billy Ray Sexton, and his daughter Janice Marie Halstead.  He survived by his daughter Dorothy Sheffield of Covington, his son Calvin Sexton of Martin, GA, and his daughter Wanda Sanders, of Dewey Rose, GA.  He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren along with a host of other family and friends. 

Funeral services for Mr. Sexton will be held at 11 o’clock Friday, October 12, 2018 at The Apostolic Community Church of Covington, 2094 Hwy 81, Covington, GA 30016 with Reverend Robert Nash officiating.  Interment will follow at 2:30 PM at College Park Cemetery, 3600 N. Adams Street, College Park, GA 30337. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 and again Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church.  J.C.
