Mr. Gerald Hayes, age 61, of Covington passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021. He was born April 25, 1960 in Atlanta and grew up in Covington and Porterdale. Mr. Hayes worked for Madison Industries for a number of years. He enjoyed hunting and was very active with the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witnesses where he spent hours mailing out information and talked daily about his faith. Through his community involvement he worked with the Serenity House where he sponsored many people. Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his father Monroe Hayes, his mother Jeanne Evans, his granddaughter Angelina Snow, his brother Ron Hayes, and his sister Bella Evans.
Mr. Hayes is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Jenifer Thrasher (Marty) of Grayson and Michelle Thompson (Paul) of Covington, his grandchildren Chace, Tyler, Luke, Faith, Sharlee, Cameron, and Clay, his great grandchildren Evelyn, Delaney, and Grant, his brother Eddie Hayes, his sister Bobbie Oliver, his step father Jerry Evans, along with numerous other family and close friends.
Memorial services for Mr. Hayes will be held at 6 o’clock Friday, September 10, 2021 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00pm until 6:00pm on Friday prior to the service. J.C.
