Jack R. Ferrell

Mr. Jack Ferrell, age 79, of Covington passed away Monday, June 14, 2021.  He was born June 24, 1941 in Akron, Ohio to Jack T. and Lucille Oris Ferrell who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Ferrell grew up in Akron and graduated from Ellet High School, following high school he played in the band The CAPS.  He served proudly in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964.  Mr. Ferrell was an avid photographer and had a passion for the outdoors.  Mr. Ferrell was able to live out his passion working as a Plantation Manager for Burge Plantation and Starrsville Plantation where he also guided hunts and trained dogs.  Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Jill Ferrell and Susan Ferrell.

Mr. Ferrell is survived by his wife of 60 years Judy Ferrell, his children, Shellie Herring (Scott) of Greensboro, Jack Ferrell (Lisa) of Greensboro, Jeff Ferrell (Kim) of Oxford, and Sandie Stafford (Chris) of Mansfield.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, his brother Tom Ferrell of Akron, Ohio, and a host of family and close friends.

The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home of Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm.  In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to The Wounded Warrior Project at  https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/ .  J.C. As of April 8, 2021, Governor Brian Kemp has lifted the restrictions for large gatherings and other recommendations throughout Georgia.  However, we ask that you still be respectful of the family and others during this time. If you are sick, not feeling well, or have any symptoms of COVID 19, please do not attend the service or services.  If you feel the need to wear a mask, please do so.
