Mrs. Jean Yancey Jenkins, age 82, of Covington passed away Friday, May 7, 2021. She was born in Porterdale, Georgia on October 19, 1938 to Bryant and Lola Steadham Yancey who have preceded her in death. Mrs. Jenkins grew up in Covington and graduated from Newton County High School. She worked for Ramsey’s Furniture for many years and was also a mail carrier for over 20 years. Mrs. Jenkins enjoyed fishing, traveling, going on family vacations, and gardening. She was an active member of Harvest Baptist Church and enjoyed working with the church food bank. She was preceded in death by her husband James Edward Jenkins, Jr, her sister Janet Wheeler, and her brother Neal Yancey.
Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her sons, Nolan Jenkins and his wife Lynn of Buckhead, Gorgia, and John D. Jenkins of Madison; her grandchildren Brooke, Colt, Ramsey, Anna, Ally, and Jake; her sisters Joyce Anderson, Glenda Cofer, and Margaret Parker; along with several nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jenkins will be held at 11 o’clock Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Culpepper officiating. Interment will follow at County Line Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, May 10, 2021. J.C.
